NDIA - Steady Progress Toward 2013 Opening
DCC Realization of Innovative APM Design for New Doha International Airport (NDIA), Underway; Project Managers Report Steady Progress Toward 2013 Opening
With production and shipment of system components on schedule, DCC advances the timely execution of its winning design for NDIA. The Bogie prototype is now complete and its preliminary model is under production. Perfecting the train’s bogie design enhances ride quality and the system’s long-term performance.
Recent completion of another significant milestone in the creation of the NDIA system, the production of the drive and deflection unit means the team can begin factory testing on schedule in February 2009. With production of the complete guideway and the return unit onsite, DCC will begin installation in August 2009.
DCC’s unique design for NDIA, projected to be one of the busiest hubs in the region, calls for glass-roofed, walkthrough cars with a new swing-car concept. With the advantages of DCC’s cable propulsion, the system will be able to glide directly through the bustling terminal, a feat which would be impossible without the exceptionally quiet, emission-free technology.
