The City of Canals celebrates opening of important Cable Liner System Connection.

The second Cable Liner in Europe is implemented in Venice, the city of canals. Doppelmayr Italia Srl. was awarded the order in 2006. The contract with ASM (Azienda Servizi Mobilità), a company of the municipality of Venice, called for building a turnkey 870 m (2,854 feet) system. It connects the artificial island "Tronchetto" (parking spaces, offices, service centers, shopping streets; in future, the most strategically important traffic hub for Venice) to the "Piazzale Roma" in the historic city center. An intermediate station is located at the city's train station. Doppelmayr Italia carried out this contract in close cooperation with DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car GmbH & Co KG. The cornerstone was laid in June 2007, with operations started in March 2010. The costs have been at approximately EUR 18 Mio.
