DCC's spectacular APM for Las Vegas CityCenter in motion
During commissioning and testing in May, both East and West systems were running independently at full speed, while the first train movements along the entire track with the evacuation drive occurred on June 9 and 12. DCC plans to move both systems up to full speed along the entire track during the week of June 22.
Opening in December 2009, DCC’s elevated creation for MGM’s CityCenter will have been installed in only 24 months. Using a modular steel guideway, delivered in sections for easy installation, facilitated the short installation timetable, a key consideration in the selection process. DCC is able to utilize the modular guideway because its cable propelled cars with no onboard motors are significantly lighter than self driven alternatives. The guideway also minimized the system’s footprint, spanning twice the standard distances between support towers.
