Newark AirTrain Replacement Program – System Technology Project
About the project
The existing AirTrain EWR of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), which opened in 1996, will be replaced by a world-class Automated People Mover (APM) system as part of the Newark AirTrain Replacement Program. Doppelmayr is one of three shortlisted automated-people-mover (APM) system technology firms to provide proposals to replace the existing AirTrain Newark system at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) with a new 2.5-mile automated train system (click link for further information).
The New AirTrain will connect to the new modern Terminal A, the future Terminal Two (currently Terminal B), the Airport's new ConRAC facility, and the Northeast Corridor Rail Link Station, connecting AirTrain customers to regional rail and light rail networks and encouraging customers and Airport employees to use public transportation to and from the Airport. The new AirTrain will be outfitted with cutting-edge technology to enhance the customer experience.
